The year 2007 was marked by the 30th anniversary of the Canadian League Against Epilepsy (CLAE). At the conclusion of the event, the incumbent 14th CLAE president, Dr. Lionel Carmant announced that 2008 will be the year of the launch of the Canadian version of the "Out of the Shadows" campaign.
The 30th anniversary represents a youthful maturation of an established organization with intrinsic growth, equipped with the wisdom and extrinsic evolution to meet future challenges. Dr. Carmant has made a timely decision to document the progress of the league since its inception. The ready availability of this historical overview and perspective is a landmark that will not only strengthen our resolve to invigorate the epilepsy movement, but also undoubtedly help to chart our future course.
